CPISP Scholar Ahmed Bardooli, is a rising sophomore at Tufts University (class of 2017) majoring in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Last summer, Ahmed took part in a 4 week internship with Tatweer Petroleum in Bahrain. He explains what he learned from this experience and how it has helped him in defining his career path.
“My curiosity and very little knowledge in the Petroleum industry tempted me to apply for an internship at Tatweer Petroleum. My experience with Tatweer was a great way for me to experience a prospective career path. I gained good knowledge about the work done in the company. And I got myself acquainted with people working in the field.”
“I was placed with Bahrain Reservoir Management Team under the subsurface and integrated planning department. I was introduced to the work of geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, reservoir engineer, and production engineer in the BRMT. My learning extended beyond the scope of BRMT and subsurface department; I met with a drilling engineer, a mud engineer, a civil and mechanical engineers in the Facility Construction department, and an engineer from the planning department. Besides all that, I had the opportunity to have a close look at the facilities, and work on a project assigned to me by my internship supervisor.”
“My internship was very valuable and inclusive, in terms of being introduced to more than one department. I found myself very busy throughout the internship, which in turn benefited me a lot in a considerably short time.”
“I sincerely appreciate Tatweer Petroleum Company for giving me the opportunity to join their summer internship. I would like to thank the HR’s summer internship coordinator Fahad Al-Obaidly for arranging the summer internship in a good schedule. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude and deep regards to my internship supervisor Ahmed Al Janahi for his exemplary guidance, monitoring and constant encouragement throughout the internship. The advice, teachings, great attention and daily tasks provided by him helped me tremendously and shall remain in my memory for a long time. I also extend my thanks to the manager of BRMT Scott Smith for welcoming me into the team, and to the members of Bahrain Reservoir Management Team.”
“Finally, I wish to thank the Crown Prince International Scholarship Program for facilitating my entry to Tatweer’s internship. I also wish to express my gratitude to HRH the Crown Prince for his support and encouragement throughout my study.”
