Director of the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program (CPISP) Dr. Cynthia Gessling affirmed the importance of training in developing the skills and abilities of talented students, in addition to education, praising the efforts of HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa in supporting outstanding Bahraini youth.
Dr. Gessling made these remarks during the launch of the CPISP’s candidacy training for students vying for one of HRH the Crown Prince’s ten annual scholarships for 2015, and which comes as part of the Program’s selection process. The Program held an introductory session, in cooperation with BIBF at their headquarters in Juffair to brief the students on the details and requirements of the upcoming training courses beginning this summer and the first semester of the academic school year.
CPISP Director Dr. Cynthia Gessling welcomed the students and congratulated them on making it to the training phase of the selection process. Dr. Gessling pointed to the importance of attending the training courses, which aim to develop their personal skills in leadership and communication, in addition to their academic skills. Dr. Gessling affirmed that the training will include a number of specialized courses organized in cooperation with BIBF, including a newly introduced Academic Writing Course, a Critical Thinking Course, leadership and communication development training that will include a Level 3 Certificate in Team Leading certified by the UK-based Chartered Management Institute, as well as Personality and Career Path Assessment. The Program will also organize guest lectures and panel discussions from qualified professionals and experts on academic and career-related topics, and personal development. After completing the training at BIBF, the Program will then provide students with preparation courses for the IELTS and SAT exams.
Dr. Gessling affirmed that the students taking part in the candidacy training include 60 candidates; 40 from Ministry of Education schools, and 20 from private schools. She explained that the final ten scholarship recipients will be selected next year based on their Grade Point Averages, results of the IELTS and SAT exams administered by the Program, and the results of the Critical Thinking course and leadership training.
Dr. Gessling thanked BIBF for its support and continued cooperation with the Program, praising the quality of training offered by the Institute, and wished the students a successful and productive experience.
BIBF Director Ms. Solveig Nicklos expressed BIBF’s keenness to work with the CPISP and contribute to developing the abilities of outstanding Bahraini students. She also praised the vision of HRH the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander, and First Deputy Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa aimed at developing Bahraini youth and for supporting training and educational initiatives.
BIBF Deputy Director Dr. Ahmed Al-Shaikh, BIBF Consultant Trainer Ms. Amal Al-Awadhi, Academic Writing Course and Critical Thinking Course Leader Mrs. Naeema Al-Aali, Leadership Course Leader Mr. Philip Mukhwana, and SAT & IELTS preparation course instructor Dr. Conrad Randall also addressed the students about the training requirements and benefits, and wished them every success in the future.
