CPISP selects its 2014 scholarship candidates

The Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program (CPISP) announced the selection of the student candidates who will undergo the training required for its selection process for its 2014 scholarships.

CPISP Director Dr. Cynthia Gessling affirmed that the candidates, who submitted their applications before the deadline of 28 February 2013, were selected based on their Grade Point Average and the results of the qualifying tests, which were organized by the Program in cooperation with the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF). This includes students from government and public schools, as well as qualifying Bahrainis studying abroad.

“We have introduced new qualifying tests for our applicants this year, in cooperation with BIBF,” affirmed CPISP Director Dr. Cynthia Gessling, “which include an online computer-based test of English Proficiency, in addition to critical reasoning assessment to test for verbal, numerical, and diagrammatical reasoning.”

Dr. Gessling stated the Program has been working with BIBF to identify and administer the most suitable tests to assess students’ cognitive abilities in addition to their English language skills. She added the CPISP will also be holding its training programs for its selected candidates at BIBF over the summer, which will include a Critical Thinking Course, Personality and Career Path Assessment, and leadership and communication development training that will include a Level 3 Certificate in Team Leading certified by the UK-based Chartered Management Institute.

Head of Center for Leadership and Management at BIBF, Mr. Kadri Rizk, expressed BIBF’s keenness to be working with the Crown Prince’s Program, which he said is among the most successful educational programs, and affirmed the importance of supporting and developing outstanding youth who will serve as future leaders. He went on to praise HRH the Crown Prince’s vision to develop outstanding Bahraini youth, and praised his efforts in establishing educational programs to develop their skills and abilities.

The CPISP will begin its selection training during the summer, followed by preparation courses for the IELTS and SAT exams, which are part of the final selection criteria.
