The Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Program (CPISP) held a recognition ceremony for candidates applying for this year’s 2013 scholarships, marking the conclusion of the training programs and examinations that make up the final selection process and criteria.
The ceremony took place at the Sh. Ebrahim bin Mohammed Center for Culture and Research auditorium in Muharraq, and included CPISP board members and sponsors, CPISP officials, training instructors, and student parents/guardians, in addition to representatives of organizations offering scholarship, educational and training opportunities and which included: BAPCO, which is a Gold Sponsor of the Program, the Ministry of Education, Al-Mabarrah Al-Khalifia Foundation, and Tamkeen.
Advisor for Political and Economic Affairs and CPISP Board member and Head of the Board Financial and Administrative Committee Sh. Mohammed bin Essa Al-Khalifa gave a speech congratulating the candidates for their academic achievements and efforts in reaching this stage of the selection process. He also thanked the Program’s sponsors for their contributions and support of HRH the Crown Prince and Deputy Commander Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s vision to develop the capabilities and talents of outstanding Bahraini youth. He also thanked CPISP officials for achieving the Program’s objectives and wished the candidates success in their academic journeys.
CPISP Director Dr. Cynthia Gessling then spoke about the Program’s training courses which come as part of the selection process and which included Critical Thinking and Critical Reading courses, leadership and communication development training, and preparation courses for IELTS and SAT examinations. She affirmed that the final ten recipients will be selected based on their GPAs, their IELTS and SAT test results, and scores of the Leadership Training and Critical Thinking course. Dr. Gessling also extended her thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture for their continued cooperation, and Khawla Secondary Girls School and Gudaibiya Intermediate Boys School for making their facilities available for the Program’s training initiatives and examinations. She also extended a special thanks to the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Center Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa for hosting the Candidate Recognition Ceremony at the Center’s auditorium.
A team of student candidates then gave a presentation on their final project assignment for the Leadership Training Program, to give the audience a sample of the quality of assignments and caliber of training received during the selection process. Their project included a proposed business model for launching a non-profit organization for youth development.
Sh. Mohammed bin Essa and Chairman of Alba, which is a platinum sponsor of the Program, and CPISP Board member Mr. Mahmood Al-Kooheji then awarded certificates of achievement and appreciation to the candidates.
The final scholarship recipients for 2013 will be announced soon and will include three young women and three young men from Ministry of Education schools and two young men and two young women from private schools.
